The Perso-Arabic Script

 While this blog will transcribe Kashmiri in Wakhluan Latin and IPA, introduction to the official, Perso-Arabic Script is being given here.

Consonants

While the initial-median-final positions are important to learn for writing in the script, that will elongate the post too much, so, this post only covers the isolate forms of the consonants.

Vowels

The vowel system is complex, and Perso-Arabic is not good at vowels:

ا - It may mean either "a", "ɪ" or "u"

اَ - "a" (Initial)

اِ - "ɪ" (Initial)

اُ - "u" (Initial)

اَپَکَ - apaka 

اِپِکِ - ipiki 

اُپُکُ - upuku 

او - o

او - ū 

او - au (dipthong) 

اوکو - oko, ūkū, aukau 

آ - ā

آکار - ākār

ٲ - əː

ٲتٲر - əːtəːr 

ٔ - ə 

تٔر - tər 

ٕ  - ɨ 

تٕر - tɨr 

ٳ - ɨː (The wavy hamza is places below a consonant in a median or final position)

اٚے - e

بیٚے - bei 

ۄ - ɔ 

بۄ - bɔ 

اے - ē

بے - bē

ای - ī

بی - bī 

ھ - aspirate
